Making an "Informed Choice" - a perspective

Life is all about 'Choice' and so quality of life proportionate to quality of informed choice we make.

Recent interaction with friends on Facebook has compelled me to put my thought on 'Informed choice' (  a polity perspective ).

Soon we are going to celebrate greatest festival of democracy i.e General Election . In this context it is pertinent to have the subjective knowledge of ground reality which is value loaded , more authentic , pragmatic rather than just rhetoric.

Most often I feel that engineers have innate tendency towards finding short-cuts ( of course with some exception :) ) ,doing things when deadline approaches . I get nostalgic when I delve into VIT days -night out with friends during exams , trying to make up for all fun in one night or so and anyhow manage to get comfortable CGPA . Here I would like to mention two wonderful ladies who helped to make exam less tense - Archana Dubey , whose class notes almost whole class use to follow and Manisha Dokania ,who use to text exact syllabus with precise page no :) .

The above short flash back is just to illustrate that how my attitude of achieving something got shrink into few hours but life outside is much more complex and full of dynamism & has many shades of grey. So to make clear cut judgement on something we first need to keep open ourself to events occurring .

I feel elated to see that many friends putting their view on politics after all knowingly or unknowingly every aspect of our life gets affected by policy of government we choose. Political direction of a country is nothing but collective value of people/society.So political awareness of citizen is necessary condition for a country to chart a prosperous path. Now in competitive democracy like India, citizen ability to make good political judgement is necessary.  It is nothing but because of our current pathetic law maker we face innumerable problems in our daily life.

Coming general election has again thrown upon us a new opportunity to correct our mistake. According to Election Commission of India , 2014 general election is going to have almost 10% first time voter i.e youth. So it is for us to take up this opportunity ,open ourself to various ideas , views and try to evaluate it with open mind rather than being rigid to any ideology because of our past  i.e making choice based on current flowing information .

So way forward should be -we need to open ourself to good debate , appreciate other view point , after all innovation is result of amalgamation of ideas , making final choice after giving balance look to all aspect like economy , social development , human development  index , defence status of our country ,public life corruption etc. Reaching to conclusion at last after these look out is what is need of the hour i.e "INFORMED CHOICE ".
